This Is Our Life Now

We ride on in silence 

because we must move forward

though we may feel uncertain and lost.  

Grieving, 

our heads are filled 

with the dismal 

somber 

reality
of the buried graves in our followed path.

And yet all we can do 

is pray

whether we believe it works or not, 

that all other survivors 

will last through the night, 

including our own selves.
